Computer Technician Duties & Responsibilities
- Install and configure hardware components such as processors, memory modules and hard drives on desktops and laptops
- Diagnose and troubleshoot software issues, performing system updates and patches as needed
- Set up and maintain local area networks (LANs), ensuring connectivity and resolving connectivity issues
- Provide technical support to end-users, addressing hardware and software concerns through efficient problem-solving
- Conduct regular system maintenance, including disk cleanup, defragmentation and antivirus scans
- Conduct regular training sessions for end-users to promote efficient and secure computer usage
- Perform hardware repairs and replacements, including the installation of graphics cards, power supplies and network interface cards
- Coordinate with vendors to procure hardware and software, ensuring compatibility and cost-effectiveness
- Backup and restore data, ensuring the integrity and availability of critical information
- Collaborate with other IT professionals to implement and optimize network security measures
- Maintain an inventory of computer equipment, tracking usage and identifying areas for upgrade or replacement

- Participate in on-call rotations to provide timely technical support outside regular business hours when required

Computer Technician Experience Requirements & Skills
