Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience working with seniors or adults with disabilities
  • Knowledge of dementia care and person-centered programming
  • Ability to lift activity supplies and assist participants as needed
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proven ability to plan and coordinate activities
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic computer skills
  • CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain
  • 2-step TB Clearance

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Therapy, Social Work, Gerontology, or related field preferred)
  • Experience working with seniors or adults with disabilities
  • Knowledge of dementia care and person-centered programming
  • Ability to lift activity supplies and assist participants as needed
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • able to engage comfortably with diverse audiences
  • Proven ability to plan and coordinate engaging activities and events
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment for participants and the community
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends for community events and special activities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, basic computer skills for scheduling, record-keeping, and communication
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • 2-step TB Clearance

Job Duties

  • Develop, plan, coordinate, and oversee a robust calendar of daily activities for participants, ensuring programs promote social engagement, cognitive stimulation, and wellness
  • Plan group and individual activities such as arts and crafts, music, games, exercise programs, educational sessions, and holiday celebrations
  • Modify activities to accommodate participants with dementia, mobility limitations, or other special needs
  • Coordinate special events, guest speakers, and community outings
  • Encourage participant engagement and foster a welcoming, inclusive environment
  • Maintain activity supplies and manage the activity budget
  • Document participation and monitor participant responses to activities
