Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Ability to work with children ranging from 4-15 years old and adults 16 plus
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, participants, parents, and caregivers
  • Ability to distinguish and recognize flavors or odors accurately
  • Ability to grab, reach, push, pull, bend, stoop, kneel and crouch for demonstrations and equipment handling
  • Ability to use hands for chopping, whisking, slicing, stirring, juicing, or demonstrating other techniques
  • Ability to lift and move kitchen equipment up to 35 pounds
  • Experience leading or assisting with cooking programs or activities
  • Experience leading groups of varying sizes
  • Ability to motivate and inspire students
  • Good classroom management
  • Understanding of culinary safety
  • Good communication skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Dedication and passion for culinary arts
  • Background check is required

Job Qualifications

  • Culinary degree or equivalent chef experience considered in lieu of degree
  • One year of experience teaching children is necessary
  • 1-2 years kitchen operations experience
  • Experience leading or assisting with cooking programs or activities
  • Experience leading groups of varying sizes
  • Good classroom management skills
  • Understanding of culinary safety
  • Good communication skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to motivate and inspire students
  • Dedication and passion for culinary arts

Job Duties

  • Prepare for class by creating and reviewing recipes to deliver exceptional cooking class experiences
  • Set up kitchen with all materials, supplies, and ingredients prior to class and return space to neat state upon completion
  • Ensure high standards of sanitation and cleanliness are maintained in both work and student areas
  • Ensure all food items are cooked and served at correct temperatures under sanitary conditions
  • Create an engaging and supportive atmosphere for participants
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and pantry items and report to Cultural Programs Coordinator for restocking and purchasing
  • Record and maintain attendance records
  • Report injuries and complete required forms
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
