Salary: $80,000–$110,000 a year
Schedule: Full-time (40 hours per week), Monday–Friday, with the possibility of overtime beyond 40 hours per week
Systems Engineer Duties & Responsibilities
- Install, configure and test the functionality of operating systems, system management tools and application software
- Ensure optimal availability of systems and infrastructure
- Execute warranty and support procedures for both hardware and software components
- Provide technical direction to IT support staff
- Evaluate existing systems and offer technical guidance to address issues
- Design new solutions for system improvements when necessary
- Advise on appropriate hardware and software for clients to meet their specific needs
- Design, implement and maintain information technology systems
- Establish basic computing infrastructure for key tasks
- Develop and enforce networking rules for cybersecurity
- Troubleshoot network errors and other technical issues
- Upgrade and maintain systems to ensure optimal performance
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including network administrators and software developers
- Staying up to date with technological advancements
Systems Engineer Experience Requirements & Skills
- Previous experience working as a Systems Engineer or in a similar role
- In-depth knowledge of operating systems, software applications and system management tools
- Hands-on experience with system installation, configuration and testing
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to design innovative solutions
- Proficiency in assessing and addressing system issues
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
- Familiarity with cybersecurity principles and networking rules
- Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills
- Attention to detail with a focus on maintaining optimal system performance
- Excellent communication skills for providing technical guidance and advice
- Capacity to upgrade and enhance systems based on evolving needs
Systems Engineer Education & Qualification Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field
- Master’s degree in a relevant field is a plus
