OysterLink’s Salary Estimate Methodology

Published: 20/5/2024

For the salary estimates, OysterLink starts with collecting data from publicly available sources such as the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) and state-specific government sites.

For positions that are not available on BLS, we refer to sources like Glassdoor, Indeed, Salary.com, ZipRecruiter and Talent.com to calculate the averages.

Finally, the team calculates an average of these inputs to produce an estimated salary for the particular job posting, location and/or job title.

Where Do We Get the Data From:

  • Government-published sources of salary data – may include BLS, city and state-specific sources such as dol.ny.gov, dir.ca.gov, etc.
  • Monitoring salary information that companies such as Glassdoor, Indeed, Salary.com, ZipRecruiter and Talent.com publish online.
