Job Description
RTX, also known as Raytheon Technologies, is the world's largest aerospace and defense company, with a workforce of 185,000 professionals united by a shared purpose: solving some of the world's most complex problems. With more than a century of experience and renowned engineering expertise, RTX offers market-leading technologies and cutting-edge solutions that help protect our nation and its allies. The company invests heavily in research and development, driving innovation that pushes the boundaries of known science to build a safer, more secure world. RTX operates various world-class businesses that provide comprehensive aerospace and defense capabilities, making it a top employer for specialists seeking challenging and rewarding roles in this sector.
This position is an onsite role located in McKinney, Texas, at the 2501 W University Drive, Wing C Building. It requires an active Top Secret DoD security clearance, emphasizing the sensitivity and critical nature of the work involved. The role offers a competitive salary range of $86,800 to $165,200, which varies based on experience, education, and the candidate's specific skills. This is a full-time role centered on IT systems administration in a mixed environment of RedHat Enterprise Linux and Microsoft Windows technologies, supporting classified programs.
The successful candidate will provide expert IT systems administration services within a heterogeneous RedHat Enterprise and Microsoft Windows infrastructure. Key responsibilities include leading the installation and configuration of RedHat systems, participating in multiple phases of software engineering including installation, testing, documentation, and acceptance, as well as mentoring junior Linux administrators. The role demands a deep understanding of server internals such as DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, and server replication methods, alongside troubleshooting complex technical problems involving hardware and operating systems integration.
The IT environment operates 24/7 and may occasionally require work beyond standard hours, demanding flexibility and commitment from the candidate. Collaboration is crucial as the role requires working closely with cybersecurity professionals to maintain information security compliance, providing thorough documentation and training on advanced IT processes. The position also involves managing system provisioning, maintenance, and operation, including storage management, access control, data backup and restoration, software licensing, and workstation support. Candidates must be prepared to obtain Department of Defense Directive 8140/8570 certification such as CompTIA Security+ CE or an equivalent within six months from the start date.
This role is ideal for candidates with a strong background in both Linux and Windows server administration, experience with virtual computing technologies like VMware, and proficiency in enterprise backup and recovery solutions. Experience with compliance related to NISPOM, JAFAN, JSIG, DFARS, or DoD RMF is also advantageous. The candidate should be capable of working effectively in a fast-paced, technologically sophisticated environment and have excellent skills in system troubleshooting, documentation, and collaboration with diverse teams.
RTX offers a comprehensive benefits package and a commitment to a safe and inclusive work environment rooted in core values such as trust, respect, accountability, collaboration, and innovation. Joining RTX means becoming part of a community dedicated to protecting freedoms and shaping the future of aerospace and defense.
