The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, presented by Shell, is a globally recognized annual event that has celebrated the vibrant culture and heritage of New Orleans and Louisiana since 1970. This festival is not merely a music event; it represents the soul of a city rich in traditions, music, and culinary delights. Held at the New Orleans Fair Grounds Race Track, just minutes from the historic French Quarter, the festival spans two long weekends in late April and early May, attracting nearly 500,000 attendees. Featuring over 650 bands on fourteen stages, Jazz Fest showcases a broad spectrum of musical styles, from jazz and blues to rock, gospel, and more. Additionally, the event offers an extensive food fair, numerous artisan stalls, second line parades, and other cultural festivities, making it a multifaceted celebration of New Orleans' unique heritage.

This short-term, seasonal position as a Barback within the Beverage Operations team plays a crucial supporting role during the Jazz Fest event, from April 13 to May 8, 2026. Under the guidance of Beverage Operations Managers, the Barback ensures the efficient operation and organization of assigned bar areas throughout the festival. The role involves diverse responsibilities such as receiving and verifying beverage deliveries, securing and managing inventory, stocking and setting up bar areas, and maintaining cleanliness and organization. Barbacks also provide necessary assistance during both non-event and event days, contributing to a smooth and successful festival experience. This position requires strong multitasking abilities, attention to detail, and the capacity to work under pressure in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. The work hours vary between non-event days from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and event days from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Physical demands include lifting up to 50 lbs, frequent bending, pushing, and pulling, and the use of manual handling equipment like pallet jacks and hand trucks.
