Cone Health

Cone Health is a private, not-for-profit healthcare delivery system headquartered in Greensboro, North Carolina. Established in 1953, it has become one of the region's largest and most comprehensive health networks. It serves communities across Alamance, Forsyth, Guilford, Randolph, Rockingham, and surrounding counties.

Locations

The network operates over 150 locations, including:

• Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital
• Wesley Long Hospital
• Cone Health Behavioral Health Hospital
• Alamance Regional Medical Center
• Annie Penn Hospital

In addition, Cone Health has six ambulatory care centers, three outpatient surgery centers, seven urgent care centers, two retirement communities, and more than 120 physician practices. These facilities offer a wide range of primary and specialty care through the Cone Health Medical Group and Triad HealthCare Network.

Staff and Commitment

The organization employs over 13,000 individuals, including 1,800 physician partners and 1,000 volunteers dedicated to the well-being of the regional population.

Ownership and Expansion

In June 2024, Cone Health announced its acquisition by Risant Health, a nonprofit created by Kaiser Permanente. This acquisition, completed in December 2024, allows Cone Health to continue its mission under new ownership.

Recognition and Awards

Cone Health's hospitals have been recognized for outstanding patient care. U.S. News & World Report named Cone Health hospitals as high-performing in 17 of 20 common adult procedures and conditions for 2022-2023. Forbes also recognized the organization as one of America's Best Employers for Diversity in 2024.
