We are currently seeking a Nursing Technician to join our dedicated team. This position is a vital support role under the close supervision of Registered Nurses, aimed at assisting patients with daily living activities while observing and documenting their conditions meticulously. The Nursing Technician will be instrumental in supporting patients’ progressive mobility and aiding in various clinical procedures to enhance patients' recovery in alignment with individualized care plans. This is typically a full-time position with competitive compensation reflective of the contribution to patient care and teamwork within our medical units.

The Nursing Technician’s responsibilities are broad and encompass assisting with meals, personal hygiene, and mobility tasks to promote recovery and maintain comfort. They will be responsible for assessing key patient needs related to nutrition, hydration, and elimination, ensuring that resources are allocated to meet those needs efficiently. This position also plays a crucial role in the logistics of patient care such as admitting, transferring, and discharging patients to ensure smooth operational flow and alignment with care protocols.

In addition to physical assistance, the Nursing Technician will assist in clinical tasks such as monitoring vital signs, blood glucose levels, recording EKGs, and attending to elimination needs, all crucial for accurate patient monitoring and safety. Keeping the unit well-stocked and organized, and maintaining a clean, safe environment according to National Patient Safety Goals, is another key aspect of this role. Furthermore, the Nursing Technician is responsible for verifying that fall-risk patients are properly identified with arm bands, socks, and signage to minimize accidents.

Documentation is a vital duty; the technician will record all clinical procedures, patient interactions, and medication use diligently to maintain comprehensive and accurate patient histories. Effective communication is critical, and the Nursing Technician must respond promptly to assignments from nurses and provide detailed patient observations to facilitate efficient and coordinated care. This role is essential in promoting patient safety, comfort, and recovery through attentive support, effective communication, and teamwork.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Nurse Aide Certification required by State of North Carolina DHHR
  • BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider certification
  • No prior experience required
  • Ability to work under close supervision
  • Good observational skills
  • Reliable and compassionate character

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Supports patients with daily living tasks including meals personal care and progressive mobility in order to support the recovery and plan of care
  • Assesses patients' quality of life related to nutrition hydration and elimination in order to distribute resources and anticipate patient needs
  • Admits transfers and discharges patients in order to move them to the appropriate locations in line with the plan of care
  • Assists with clinical procedures including monitoring blood glucose recording vital signs obtaining EKGs applying restraints and attending to elimination needs to provide comfortable care for patients
  • Helps to maintain unit inventories of supplies and medical equipment in order to ensure a clean and safe environment in adherence to the National Patient Safety Goals
  • Checks that fall-risk patients have the appropriate arm bands socks and signage to ensure physical safety
  • Helps document all clinical procedures patient interactions and medication use to maintain a detailed patient history
  • Responds promptly to delegation from registered nurse staff and shares patient observations to ensure efficient collaboration
  • Performs other duties as assigned
