The position of Concierge Service at Advocate Health’s 11624 AMC Mount Pleasant facility offers a pivotal role in shaping the first and last impressions of patients and visitors. This part-time role is vital in delivering exceptional guest service, maintaining smooth traffic flow, and assisting with the physical transport of patients and visitors within and outside the facility. Working flexible hours during either the first or second shift, this position offers pay ranging from $18.85 to $28.30 per hour based on qualifications and experience. Although benefits eligibility is not offered for this part-time status, the role provides rich professional experience within one of the nation’s leading health care systems.
Responsibilities include interacting with patients and visitors proactively and professionally, providing quick and responsive service, utilizing the Epic system for appointment and patient look-ups, and managing communication across departments to coordinate transport requests. The concierge is also tasked with conflict resolution, managing patient or visitor concerns adeptly, and assisting with symptom screening when required by asking structured health questions. Physical requirements of the role include standing and walking for 95 percent of the workday, exposure to weather extremes, and the ability to assist with moving patients by wheelchair and escort. This position demands excellent customer service skills, the capacity to work independently and collaboratively, and expertise in handling multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Life support training may be required depending on departmental discretion. Job Duties
- Successfully manage the first and last impressions of the facility
- Proactively approach, greet and acknowledge all in a friendly, professional manner and provide quick, responsive guest service
- Answer telephone and make calls to department, units and outside organizations as requested
- Successfully utilize the Epic system for appointment and patient look-up, input of transport requests
- Properly communicate with all departments and transport companies on behalf of patients/visitors
- Partner with all hospital staff
- Problem-solve, manage conflict, address patient/visitor concerns and complaints, and initiate recovery steps for service failures
- Assist in maintaining a smooth traffic flow at the entrances to the facility
- Physically assist in the transport of patients/visitors through wheelchair use and escorting - both external and internal
- Physically assist patients in/out of vehicles
- When required, provide symptom screening of patients/visitors entering the facility by asking structured health questions
