Fusion Medical Staffing-Laboratory is currently seeking a skilled Travel Histology Technologist (HTL) or Histology Technician (HT) for a 13-week travel assignment at a reputable healthcare facility in Dallas, Texas. This position offers an opportunity to work 40 hours per week during day shifts of 8 hours each and requires licensure compliance as per state regulations. Job Requirements
- One year of recent experience as a Histotechnologist (HTL) or Histology Technician (HT)
- Valid license when needed in compliance with any state regulations
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
- Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and follow verbal instructions
- Proficiency in PC skills
- Physical ability to remain stationary, move equipment (50-100lbs), push, pull, and bend
- Ability to work effectively with a variety of personnel while maintaining professionalism
- Ability to perform fine manipulations and motor tasks
- Capability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Visual acuity and effective communication skills
Job Qualifications
- One year of recent experience as a Histotechnologist (HTL) or Histology Technician (HT)
- Valid license when needed in compliance with any state regulations
- National certification through ASCP or equivalent such as AMT, AAB, HEW certifications preferred
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
- Proficiency in PC skills
- Strong critical thinking and interpersonal communication skills
Job Duties
- Receive, process, and prepare tissue specimens for microscopic examination
- Accurately differentiate between normal, reactive, infectious, and malignant cellular changes
- Perform embedding, cutting, staining, and slide preparation using specialized histology techniques
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including microtomes, tissue processors, and automated staining machines
- Verify specimen accuracy and ensure proper labeling and documentation
- Follow quality control protocols to maintain consistency and reliability in slide preparation
- Assist pathologists and laboratory staff by preparing slides for special stains and immunohistochemistry procedures
- Maintain compliance with laboratory safety procedures and regulatory requirements
- Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice
- Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards
