Job Description
Advocate Health is a leading nonprofit integrated health system in the United States, formed from the combination of Advocate Aurora Health and Atrium Health. It operates under multiple prominent names across different regions, including Advocate Health Care in Illinois, Atrium Health in the Carolinas, Georgia, and Alabama, and Aurora Health Care in Wisconsin. With a headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina, Advocate Health serves nearly 6 million patients and is dedicated to clinical innovation, improved health outcomes, exceptional consumer experience, and value-based care. The organization is renowned nationally for its expertise in various medical specialties including cardiology, neurosciences, oncology, pediatrics, rehabilitation, organ transplants, burn treatment, and specialized musculoskeletal programs. Advocate Health provides extensive medical education opportunities through one of the country's largest graduate medical education programs, involving over 2,000 residents and fellows across more than 200 programs. It values equity in healthcare by providing over $6 billion annually in community benefits, making it a cornerstone in delivering quality care to diverse populations.
The Aurora Medical Center located in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, is a vital part of Advocate Health’s regional network. It is currently seeking a part-time Patient Transporter to join the Concierge Service department. This position is scheduled for evening shifts, working Monday through Friday from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, totaling 20 hours per week. This role is essential in supporting efficient patient flow and enhancing the overall patient experience within the facility.
The Patient Transporter is responsible for the safe, efficient, and courteous transportation of patients throughout Aurora Medical Center. Collaborating closely with nursing staff, imaging, surgery, and other clinical departments, the transporter ensures patients are moved promptly and comfortably to and from diagnostic tests, procedures, treatment areas, and inpatient units. The role demands a thorough commitment to patient safety, dignity, and confidentiality while delivering outstanding customer service.
Key responsibilities include transporting patients using wheelchairs, stretchers, beds, or ambulatory assistance, verifying patient identity before transport, and assisting patients with transfers employing proper body mechanics and safe patient handling equipment. This position also entails supporting the communication flow among healthcare team members by relaying information on patient status and transport requests, transporting laboratory specimens, and medical equipment when assigned, and maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of transport equipment according to infection control standards.
Candidates must demonstrate dependability, punctuality, and a team-oriented approach, along with an awareness for safety and a detail-focused mindset. Physical stamina and the ability to maneuver patients and equipment safely are essential, as is the capacity to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment. This role requires a current CPR certification or the ability to obtain it within the required timeframe, basic computer skills, and excellent communication abilities.
The Patient Transporter position offers a competitive pay range between $18.85 and $28.30 per hour, commensurate with qualifications and experience. As a benefits-eligible part-time role within Advocate Health, it includes access to a comprehensive Total Rewards package featuring paid time off, health and welfare benefits, retirement plans with employer matching, educational assistance, and various family support programs. This position is an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking a meaningful career in healthcare support with a prestigious and compassionate organization that values employee growth and patient-centered care.
