Job Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- 2 to 4 years of relevant transportation experience and/or training
- Compliance with local, state, and federal transportation regulations
- Ability to work non-traditional hours including evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call
- Capacity to perform physical demands including lifting up to 100 pounds and pushing/pulling up to 350 pounds
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License preferred but not required
- Certificate of DOT regulation training preferred
- Ability to work at heights and in various environmental conditions
- Regular attendance and reliable work schedule
- Ability to travel occasionally to other facilities or corporate offices
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle safety responsibilities and investigations
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 2 to 4 years transportation experience and/or training
- College degree in business management, supply chain management, or similar preferred
- Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and DOT rules
- Skilled in independent decision-making aligned with company policies
- Ability to lead discussions and meetings effectively
- Proficient with spreadsheet and word processing software
- Capable of interpreting written, oral, diagram, or schedule instructions
- Consistent, timely, and objective application of policies
- Ability to work in compliance with regulatory standards
- Ability to manage stress and deadlines in customer service contexts
- Ability to learn SYGMA technology and software
- Strong English communication skills
- Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and regulations
- Competent in writing reports, correspondence, and manuals
- Effective presentation skills for diverse audiences
Job Duties
- Supervises the daily work and safety of transportation associates including adherence to standard operating procedures and Food Safety Standards
- Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies including DOT and OSHA
- Oversees labor hours and consumable supplies within budget
- Prepares work schedules including extra work days and shifts as needed
- Assists with the training and cross-training of associates
- Directs proper selection and utilization of company assets to support delivery operations
- Coordinates required repairs with proper departments
- Reviews delivery functions and productivity
- suggests efficiency and cost reduction measures
- Interprets, trains, and enforces company policies and procedures including food safety and DOT regulations
- Communicates with warehouse and customer service teams to resolve customer and delivery issues
- Visits customer locations to address delivery challenges
- Maintains positive associate relations through meetings and open communication
- Monitors associate morale and handles associate engagement activities
- Works with safety manager on training, observations, accident investigations, and safety inspections
- Makes recommendations for corrective actions and behavior modifications
- Performs management functions including staff selection, development, discipline, and performance reviews
- Exhibits regular attendance and flexibility to meet workload demands
- Performs duties of supervised associates as necessary
