The Director of Operations role at the Palm Springs Convention Center, managed by Oak View Group, is a pivotal leadership position responsible for overseeing the complete spectrum of hospitality operations within this premier venue. This full-time position offers an annual salary range of $90,000 to $110,000, along with eligibility for bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) savings plan with matching, and paid time off encompassing vacation, sick days, and holidays.

As Director of Operations, you will drive the strategic leadership and operational management of all hospitality functions such as concessions, premium services, catering, banquet operations, bars, and special events. The role demands a proactive leader who is dedicated to delivering exceptional guest experiences while ensuring financial objectives are met and exceeded. You will be an essential member of the venue leadership team, working hand-in-hand with culinary, sales, event management, and venue operations departments to orchestrate world-class events that uphold the highest standards of service, safety, and profitability.

Your responsibilities will include designing and implementing operational strategies aimed at optimizing guest satisfaction and revenue growth, closely monitoring service quality, and continuously seeking opportunities for improvement. The Director of Operations will manage budgets and financial forecasting, analyze financial data including labor costs and inventory controls, and ensure compliance with health, safety, and food service regulations. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in hospitality management business administration or related field preferred
  • 5-7 years of progressive hospitality or food and beverage management experience required
  • 2-3 years of senior leadership experience in convention center arena stadium performing arts center hotel resort or similar large-scale hospitality environment required
  • Proven experience managing high-volume food and beverage operations
  • Strong financial acumen including budget management forecasting and P&L accountability
  • Ability to lead large teams effectively in a fast-paced event-driven environment
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations labor management inventory control procedures and hospitality best practices
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and hospitality management software
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods within the venue
  • Willingness to work nights weekends holidays and extended hours as event schedules demand
  • Capacity to navigate all venue areas including kitchens loading docks storage and event spaces
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry heavy objects

Job Duties

  • Direct and oversee all hospitality operations including concessions catering banquets and bars
  • Ensure seamless execution of events such as conventions trade shows and community gatherings
  • Develop and implement operational strategies to enhance guest satisfaction and drive revenue growth
  • Monitor service standards and continuously identify improvement opportunities
  • Ensure compliance with company policies health regulations food safety standards and alcohol service requirements
  • Assist General Manager with annual operating budgets and financial forecasts
  • Analyze financial performance labor costs inventory controls and operational efficiencies
  • Drive revenue growth through strategic initiatives menu development premium offerings and enhanced guest experiences
  • Review and manage P&L performance to achieve profitability goals
  • Implement cost-control measures while maintaining service quality
  • Recruit hire train develop and retain management and hourly team members
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to department managers supervisors and frontline staff
  • Establish performance expectations and conduct performance evaluations
  • Foster a positive inclusive and guest-focused culture
  • Tour available spaces to prospective clients and actively sell venue locations
  • Serve as primary group and convention contact approve inventory or changes respond to questions or concerns timely
  • Partner with Human Resources to support employee engagement succession planning and workforce development
  • Collaborate with event managers venue leadership culinary teams and clients to ensure successful event execution
  • Participate in event planning meetings and operational reviews
  • Negotiate author and submit finalized diagrams and BEOs to clients and internal staff
  • Address or coordinate all catering requirements and requests timely and helpful
  • Maintain accurate records for catering sales activities in line with OVG policies and procedures
  • Communicate daily with food and beverage manager culinary staff catering staff and operations staff regarding guest needs and expectations
  • Ensure all hospitality services meet contractual obligations and client expectations
  • Assist with guest experience follow-up ensuring issues are addressed
  • Develop and enhance client relationships to maintain renewal business
  • Assist with oversight of accounts receivable for assigned events
  • Maintain compliance with federal state and local regulations
  • Ensure proper food handling sanitation workplace safety and responsible alcohol service
