  • Previous experience as chef or cook preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work flexible shifts including evenings and weekends

Job Duties

  • Greets and welcomes guests within 15 minutes of their teppan order
  • Performs a cooking show for assigned tables ensuring interaction with guests is appropriate and courteous
  • Provides guests with information about Benihana foods during cooking or upon inquiry
  • Responds promptly and courteously to guest requests
  • Asks guests for cooking preference and follows guest instructions
  • Prepares meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food items for cooking using various kitchen equipment
  • Performs shift opening and closing duties such as cleaning refrigeration units, gaskets, chef carts and floors
  • Maintains kitchen, teppan cooking areas, equipment and food storage clean, sanitary and organized
  • Adheres to company standards on food portioning, cooking methods, quality, recipes, service, and policies
  • Prepares foods according to portion standards including battering, breading, seasoning and marinating
  • Ensures proper food presentation and garnishes
  • Handles, stores, labels and rotates foods following safety protocols and FIFO
  • Uses knives, utensils, and equipment for food preparation
  • Adheres to company guidelines on alcoholic beverage service
  • Presents a clean and neat appearance and courteous manner
  • Notifies manager on duty of unsatisfied guests or accidents
  • Participates in memorable guest special occasion celebrations
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor
