The Sushi Chef position at JOEY Restaurants plays a critical role in the kitchen team by crafting iconic sushi dishes that reflect high standards of consistency and quality. This position offers an hourly wage ranging from $22.00 to $30.00 and participation in the company's tip pooling program, which can provide additional earnings typically between $5.00 and $12.00 per hour. Job Requirements

  • Between 1 and more than 3 years of culinary experience
  • Ability to obtain or valid local and/or state food handling permits
  • Passion for hospitality
  • Ability to work well in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods
  • Ability to bend reach and stretch frequently
  • Ability to perform repetitive manual tasks
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Prepare all ingredients and food products to complete prep lists meet minimum and optimal inventory levels or PAR and follow rotation standards and recipes
  • Use various preparation and cooking methods to ensure quick accurate creation of sushi menu items according to JOEY recipes including washing chopping slicing grilling sautéing frying etc
  • Coordinate with other stations as needed
  • Maintain clean hygienic and safe preparation and cooking areas
  • Clean organize and maintain proper functioning of refrigerators refrigerated drawers ovens prep areas and dry storage areas
  • Perform assigned opening closing and additional tasks to support team success and assist kitchen team when needed
  • Follow all instructions and guidelines for safe use of kitchen equipment and cleaning products report immediately any equipment or maintenance failures to management
  • Follow all safety precautions and procedures in food service and handling
