The company fosters an inclusive work environment that emphasizes people development, continuous training, education, empowerment, and performance excellence. JOEY Restaurants operates under a strong ethos of equal employment opportunity and is dedicated to providing reasonable accommodations to qualified applicants, promoting diversity and inclusion in its workforce.

As a Sushi Chef at JOEY Restaurants, you will be a vital part of delivering the brand's commitment to iconic culinary experiences by preparing and producing all sushi menu items with precision and passion. This role requires a detail-oriented individual who thrives in a fast-paced, demanding kitchen environment. You will be responsible for prepping ingredients, utilizing various cooking and preparation methods such as washing, chopping, cutting, grilling, roasting, sauting, and frying to ensure timely and consistent menu execution according to JOEY's recipe standards. Maintaining cleanliness and organization of food preparation and cooking areas, refrigerators, cooler drawers, ovens, and storage spaces are also essential duties to uphold food safety and operational standards. Collaboration with other kitchen stations and adherence to safety protocols for kitchen equipment and food handling are critical to this role, as is the ability to complete assigned side work and closing duties to support team success.

Ideal candidates possess 1-3+ years of culinary experience; however, those with high potential but less experience are encouraged to apply. It is necessary to have or obtain valid local or state Food Handler permits. The role demands a passion for hospitality paired with a proven track record in delivering world-class hospitality experiences. Candidates must be comfortable standing and walking for prolonged periods, performing repetitive manual tasks, frequent bending, stretching, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Successful Sushi Chefs at JOEY are genuine, warm, and caring professionals who value honesty, integrity, and continuous improvement. Strong communication skills, a collaborative spirit, natural problem-solving ability, and a passion for quality and professionalism are vital for success. JOEY Restaurants promotes an environment that encourages healthy competition and personal growth while emphasizing confidence, humility, respect, and professional presentation.

Working at JOEY Restaurants means joining a team where career development, education, and growth opportunities are prioritized. Benefit-eligible employees gain access to comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans, alongside a medical reimbursement plan and Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Team members enjoy discounted employee shift meals, a 10% discount on food and beverages at all JOEY locations for themselves and guests, and can participate in referral bonus programs and sales competitions with rewards. This role offers more than a job; it offers a journey of potential and opportunity within a company dedicated to both exceptional guest experiences and the success and well-being of its people.
