Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of three years of experience cooking in a full-service or institutional kitchen
- ServSafe Food Handler Training Certificate or ANSI-accredited food handler certificate within 30 days of hire
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to walk, use hands and fingers, reach, talk, and hear frequently
- Ability to occasionally sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work in a kitchen environment with moderate noise and exposure to caustic chemicals and extreme heat
- Availability for day, evening, and weekend shifts
- Compliance with all federal, state, and local safety and health regulations
- Ability to move within workspace to access equipment and surfaces at varying heights
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of three years of experience cooking in a full-service or institutional kitchen
- ServSafe Food Handler Training Certificate or another ANSI-accredited Food Handler Training Certificate Program required within 30 days of hire
- Must maintain current certification throughout employment
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, coworkers, and customers
- Leadership skills to provide instruction and mentorship
- Familiarity with food safety and sanitation standards
- Experience using computer software for recipe and menu development
- Ability to work in a team environment
Job Duties
- Create a working atmosphere according to Food Services' mission and guiding principles where excellence, professionalism, leadership, respect, and culinary pride are displayed on a daily basis
- Prepare rotating menu items at the Plate by Plate station and other stations as assigned
- Provide instruction and guidance to cooks and delegate tasks efficiently during production and events
- Follow proper food handling, sanitation, and storage procedures
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, coworkers, and internal and external customers
- Assist Executive and Sous Chefs in developing recipes and menu concepts
- Collaborate with Purchasing Manager to procure new food items for menu development
- Plan and execute themed station concepts for holidays and special events
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of all work areas
- Complete food requisitions to maintain appropriate inventory levels
- Record and maintain all required temperature logs
- Operate and maintain all kitchen equipment safely and properly
- Respond appropriately to hospital emergency or safety situations
- Attend and actively participate in all required meetings and training sessions
- Follow payroll and uniform guidelines
- Perform additional duties as assigned to meet departmental goals
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance
