The role of the Sous Chef at Tatte is a pivotal leadership position within the kitchen. As a Sous Chef, you will assist in overseeing all kitchen operations at your café and hold responsibility for the success and growth of your kitchen team, which can include up to 25 employees such as Zone Leaders, Cooks, Prep Cooks, and Dishwashers. This role demands not only culinary expertise but also excellent leadership skills to engage, inspire, and manage a diverse team effectively. The Sous Chef is responsible for the overall kitchen execution in a high-volume, fast-paced environment, especially in the absence of the Head Chef. This includes guiding the team to meet established guidelines for production and service, adhering to strict recipe, portioning, and presentation standards, and maintaining the highest levels of food safety and sanitation.
In addition to leadership, the Sous Chef is involved in hands-on cooking, menu development assistance, inventory management, and ensuring that all kitchen operations run smoothly and efficiently. The candidate must have a passion for crafting amazing food made from scratch and providing genuine hospitality, which aligns with Tatte’s core values. Job Requirements
- Minimum of three years of culinary/kitchen management experience in a high-volume foodservice operation
- comprehensive knowledge of food and proven passion for culinary excellence
- understand the importance of quality product, visual presentation, efficient production, safety & sanitation, and food cost controls
- knowledge and proficiency of Tatte's systems, methods and processes that contribute to great execution
- excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate professionally and effectively
- highly organized with strong attention to detail
- high school education or equivalent
