The Sous Chef role at Union Square Events is located at the distinguished Conrad Hotel, offering an exciting and dynamic environment for an entrepreneurial culinary professional. This full-time position reports directly to the Executive Chef and offers a competitive salary range of $65,000 to $85,000 per year. The Sous Chef plays a pivotal role in managing the Culinary Department's day-to-day operations, assisting in supervising kitchen staff, and ensuring the highest standards of food quality and presentation. This role requires hands-on culinary expertise to prepare and cook various menu items, develop daily specials, and maintain food safety and sanitation protocols. The Sous Chef will collaborate closely with the Executive Chef and marketing teams to innovate menus and roll out new culinary programs, ensuring the offerings reflect current trends and client expectations.
Responsibilities include supporting cost control measures, assisting with recipe development, managing catering events, and supervising hourly kitchen associates. Ideal candidates will have progressive culinary or kitchen management experience, preferably with catering expertise and exposure to high-volume, complex foodservice operations. Experience in institutional and batch cooking methods is advantageous, as is comprehensive knowledge of food trends, production efficiencies, sanitation standards, and food cost controls. Proficiency with computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and general internet use is required. ServSafe certification is highly desirable, demonstrating a commitment to food safety. Job Requirements
- Must have A.S. degree or equivalent experience
