The role of Sous Chef at LSG Sky Chefs is an exciting opportunity based in San Francisco, near the San Francisco International Airport (SFO). This is an on-site, full-time position with a competitive salary ranging from $71,530.60 to $89,412.85 annually. As a Sous Chef, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the airline catering partnership with United Airlines by overseeing daily food production and ensuring the highest culinary standards are met in a fast-paced, high-volume commercial kitchen environment. Reporting directly to the Executive Chef, the Sous Chef is essential in maintaining operational excellence, leading kitchen teams, and executing quality food preparation in line with strict safety and compliance standards. In this role, you will supervise and participate in the preparation and cooking of meals, ensuring consistent adherence to menu specifications and production schedules. You will step in for the Executive Chef during absences and support menu development and customer engagement initiatives, including tastings and culinary presentations. The Sous Chef will also monitor inventory, manage ingredient usage efficiently, and place food and supply orders to meet production requirements. The position demands strong leadership skills to motivate, train, and develop kitchen team members, fostering a collaborative and performance-driven culture that reflects LSG Sky Chefs' dedication to culinary excellence. Ensuring compliance with HACCP food safety standards and health regulations is a critical responsibility of the Sous Chef. Routine quality checks, monitoring receiving processes, and enforcing sanitation procedures contribute to delivering safe, high-quality meals to airline passengers. Additionally, the Sous Chef assists in managing kitchen budgets and controlling food costs, promoting lean manufacturing principles and contributing to continuous improvement efforts within the kitchen operations. Candidates should possess 3 to 5 years of commercial kitchen experience, preferably in airline catering or hospitality, a culinary degree or equivalent certification, and proficiency with Microsoft Office and Windows-based applications.
