Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • minimum four years of related culinary experience
  • willingness to learn and grow
  • maturity of judgment and behavior
  • maintain high standards for work areas and appearance
  • maintain a positive attitude
  • ability to work flexible schedule including nights and weekends
  • comply with dress code requirements
  • punctuality and regular attendance
  • ability to stand for up to eight hours
  • ability to lift and move items up to 40 pounds
  • authorized to work in person at Wisconsin Lutheran College
  • adhere to safety and hygiene regulations

Job Qualifications

  • Thorough working knowledge of cold food preparation
  • Good working knowledge of accepted safety and sanitation standards
  • Extensive experience with slicers, mixers, grinders, food processors, etc
  • Basic mathematical skills necessary to understand recipes, measurements, requisition amounts, and portion sizes
  • Sufficient manual dexterity of hand in order to use all kitchen equipment, i.e., knives, spoons, spatulas, togs, slicers, etc
  • 2-3 years as a chef de partie and lead cook prior to management required

Job Duties

  • In this role, you will assist in training, supervising, and actively maintaining Mason Street Grill’s high standards of quality
  • Whether it's the upbeat aromas, the background sounds of live music, or the taste of a refreshing cocktail after a long day at work, we want to make sure that our guests' time spent with us will bring them back again and again
  • Visually inspects appearance of all food for proper taste, color combination, and overall presentation to maintain appeal
  • Supervises all assigned staff including training, counseling, and discipline
  • Schedules appropriate number of staff according to daily needs of restaurant functions and weekly forecasts
