Job Requirements

  • High school diploma preferred
  • Culinary or apprenticeship program preferred
  • Minimum of two years experience in supervisory and management roles in a similar-sized kitchen
  • 2-3 years experience as a chef de partie and lead cook prior to management
  • Knowledge of cold food preparation
  • Knowledge of safety and sanitation standards
  • Experience using kitchen equipment such as slicers, mixers, grinders, and food processors
  • Basic math skills for recipe measurements and portion control
  • Manual dexterity to handle kitchen tools and equipment

Job Duties

  • Visually inspects appearance of all food for proper taste, color combination, and overall presentation to maintain appeal
  • Supervises all assigned staff including training, counseling, and discipline
  • Schedules appropriate number of staff according to daily needs of restaurant functions and weekly forecasts
  • Ensures compliance with safety and sanitation standards
  • Assists in managing kitchen inventory and food requisition
  • Supports kitchen staff during meal preparation to maintain quality and timing
  • Participates in menu planning and development
