Job Requirements
- An Oregon food handler's card or equivalent
- Food Protection Manager Certification within six months of hire
- Formal culinary training through cooking school, professional culinary institute, or 2- or 4-year college degree program in hospitality or culinary arts
- Three years of working chef experience in a high volume environment or five years of chef experience
- Must be available for various shifts primarily day or swing in a 24/7 operation
- Ability to stand for 4 or more hours continuously
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
- Ability to push or pull carts weighing 100-150 lbs
- Frequent bending, reaching, and handling sharp tools
- Ability to perform twisting, climbing, and crawling as needed
Job Qualifications
- Formal culinary training through cooking school, professional culinary institute, or 2- or 4-year degree program in hospitality or culinary arts
- Three years of working chef experience in a high volume environment or five years of chef experience
- Food Protection Manager Certification within six months of hire
- Strong interpersonal communication skills, verbal and written
- Basic nutrition and sustainability training from a registered dietitian or approved program
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Publisher
- Customer Service training for patient care or equivalent
Job Duties
- Coordinate all production activities for all cafe meal service periods
- Manage production levels to ensure adequate food preparation and minimize waste
- Oversee production of all retail menu items ensuring strict adherence to recipes and HACCP standards
- Manage HACCP procedures and implement corrective actions as needed
- Ensure kitchen cleanliness and proper food disposal meeting sanitary standards
- Assign cleaning schedules and record completion of tasks
- Manage meals on demand display cooking with training for food service workers
- Distribute workload equally among staff and adjust schedules as needed
- Assist with scheduling, training, and sanitation compliance
- Attend weekly manager meetings and support leadership and safety teams
- Schedule daily tasks and assignments for retail production team
- Support online ordering processes in the absence of purchasing agent
- Coordinate with purchasing agent for supply planning
- Monitor equipment maintenance and coordinate repairs
- Participate in employee recognition programs
- Support sustainability efforts including recycling and food waste composting
- Perform additional duties as assigned
