Job Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent
  • 3-5 years previous Sous Chef experience in an upper-tier restaurant or hotel
  • Ability to train and supervise kitchen staff
  • Strong understanding of sanitation standards
  • Ability to manage kitchen operations and payroll
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Physical stamina to stand and lift up to 30 lbs
  • Must hold TABC certification
  • Ability to work varied shifts based on business needs

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Sous Chef in upscale restaurants or hotels
  • Strong knowledge of culinary techniques including butchering and sauce preparation
  • Proficient in kitchen sanitation standards
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to work flexibly according to department needs
  • Must hold TABC certification

Job Duties

  • Train kitchen staff in preparation and cooking techniques
  • Supervise kitchen operations to maintain quality and standards
  • Manage food storage, portion control, and product rotation
  • Schedule culinary staff and control payroll costs
  • Enforce cost and quality control procedures
  • Communicate clearly with staff, provide coaching and performance evaluations
  • Maintain safety and sanitation standards
  • Operate kitchen equipment including stoves, ovens, and slicers
  • Adapt to fast-paced and stressful kitchen environments
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
