Job Requirements

  • Minimum three years formal culinary education or equivalent experience
  • At least three years of sous chef leadership experience across various kitchen stations
  • Comprehensive knowledge of culinary operations including pastry sections
  • Strong leadership skills with supervisory and training experience
  • Up-to-date training in First Aid and ServeSafe preferred
  • Capacity to work under high pressure and maintain high energy
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • Formal culinary school training or equivalent experience
  • Minimum three years of leadership experience as a Sous Chef
  • Extensive knowledge of culinary departments including pastries
  • Demonstrated passion for food and commitment to excellence
  • Strong supervisory and training abilities
  • Knowledge of culinary trends and continuous improvement mindset
  • Current First Aid and Serve Safe certification preferred
  • Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to change
  • Positive attitude and strong team player
  • Flexible scheduling availability

Job Duties

  • Lead and supervise the kitchen team to ensure high productivity
  • Oversee food preparation and ensure adherence to recipes and quality standards
  • Maintain a positive and motivating work environment among colleagues
  • Assist in departmental goals, budget reviews, and maintenance needs
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, EcoSure, and ServSafe standards
  • Monitor kitchen cleanliness, equipment maintenance, and proper food rotation
  • Coordinate kitchen operations seven days a week and support colleagues during absences
  • Conduct daily briefings and training sessions for kitchen staff
  • Lead menu development and innovation
  • Monitor payroll costs and productivity within budget guidelines
  • Promote sustainable kitchen practices including recycling and composting
  • Collaborate on banquet and restaurant function preparations
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of temperature logs and safety documentation
  • Identify opportunities to reduce expenses without compromising quality
  • Maintain effective communication with Executive Chef and hotel management
