Job Description

The View, located in the heart of New York City's bustling theater district, is the city's only revolving restaurant, bar, and lounge. Since 2025, it has been proudly operated by Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality Group after a complete renovation by the Rockwell Group. The View offers guests an unparalleled dining and entertainment experience that reflects the vibrant nightlife and rich history of classic American supper clubs. Spanning two floors, guests can enjoy stunning panoramic skyline views while savoring live music, exceptional cuisine, and a lively atmosphere. The establishment is a perfect blend of theatrical energy, top-tier hospitality, and culinary excellence, making it a landmark destination for both locals and visitors alike.

Within this celebrated venue, the Sous Chef holds a pivotal role in maintaining and elevating the quality and standards of the kitchen’s daily operations. Working closely with the Executive Chef, the Sous Chef ensures all prep kitchen pars are met, oversees menu execution during service, and actively contributes to the management and development of the kitchen staff, including Line Cooks, Prep Cooks, and other hourly team members. This position demands an individual adept at providing constructive feedback, fostering career growth, and holding the back-of-house (BOH) team accountable to consistent performance objectives. The Sous Chef champions a culture where Enlightened Hospitality is practiced, setting a tone of excellence and warmth not only in food preparation but also in team collaboration and guest service. Through meticulous attention to detail, leadership, and passion for culinary arts, the Sous Chef helps guarantee that every dish and every service moment meets the high standard that defines The View. This role also includes educating dining room staff about menu items and culinary procedures to ensure a seamless and informed guest experience. Being part of Union Square Hospitality Group means joining a culture grounded in care, creativity, and growth, with a commitment to investing in employees' professional and personal development. The annual salary for this position ranges from $75,000 to $80,000, including eligibility for a performance bonus based on experience and impact. The opportunity comes with comprehensive benefits, highlighting a balanced and supportive work environment geared towards sustained success and wellbeing.
