The role available is for an Assistant Chef who will support the Executive Chef by managing daily kitchen activities, ensuring seamless kitchen operations, and maintaining food quality. This position involves preparing, seasoning, and cooking dishes in accordance with established recipes and standards. It additionally requires supervising kitchen staff, particularly when the Executive Chef is absent, to ensure smooth workflow and adherence to safety and hygiene protocols. The Assistant Chef will assist in menu preparation, oversee food storage and stock rotation, and help manage ordering processes to guarantee freshness and availability of ingredients at all times.

Moreover, the Assistant Chef plays a vital role in holding the team to the highest cleanliness and sanitation standards as set by GHC health regulations. Regular inspections of the kitchen environment, food presentation, and equipment cleanliness fall under this position’s responsibilities. Job Requirements

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Ensure overall kitchen cleanliness meets GHC health and equipment standards
  • Perform regular inspections of kitchen for food quality, appearance, and sanitation
  • Lead kitchen team in absence of Executive Chef
  • Follow proper procedures for equipment requests and documentation
  • Provide guidance to junior kitchen staff members
  • Oversee and organize kitchen stock and ingredients in Executive Chef’s absence
  • Ensure first-in, first-out food rotation system is followed and food products are dated and organized
  • Keep service line prepped and stocked during prime hours
  • Assist with supervision of food preparation and presentation
  • Work with Executive Chef on kitchen organization and staff training
  • Verify proper management of food storage units
  • Assist Executive Chef with various duties
  • Participate in up to three special events per semester
  • Maintain professional appearance in GHC attire
  • Communicate client feedback to management
  • Receive and check quality and quantity of deliveries
  • Maintain professional relationships with vendors and clients
  • Adhere to scheduling and time management protocols
  • Assist in monitoring scheduling of staff
  • Transfer to other worksites as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
