The Peninsula Chicago is a luxury Five-Star Five-Diamond hotel located in the heart of Michigan Avenue, Chicago. Currently, The Peninsula Chicago is seeking a creative and highly organized Sous Chef for its Shanghai cuisine restaurant, Shanghai Terrace. This is an exceptional opportunity to join a distinguished multi-outlet luxury property that values culinary innovation and a memorable guest experience. The role is full-time with an annual salary range of $70,000 to $75,000, offering a chance to grow professionally within a diverse culinary team.
The Sous Chef will work closely with the Shanghai Terrace Chef De Cuisine to plan, direct, control, coordinate, and actively participate in the daily preparation and production of the restaurant’s kitchen. The successful candidate will ensure the production of all menu items meets the highest quality standards consistently while minimizing waste and optimizing raw material use. This position demands a detail-oriented approach to maintain exemplary presentation standards and develop new culinary standards for the outlet. In addition to supporting daily kitchen operations, the Sous Chef will assist the Executive Sous Chef with responsibilities and take on leadership duties during the Executive Sous Chef’s absence.

Job Duties
- Assist Shanghai Terrace Chef De Cuisine in planning, directing, controlling, coordinating and participating in daily kitchen preparation and production
- Accountable for production of all products required by the outlet
- Ensure that all food products meet the highest quality standards consistently
- Assist the Executive Sous Chef with tasks and support during his absence
- Minimize wastage and maximize use of raw materials
- Maintain presentation standards and help develop new culinary standards
- Produce daily kitchen requirements for events and plan execution to maintain production levels
