AECOM is currently seeking a Safety, Health & Environmental Manager to join their team on a full-time onsite basis in Westchester County, New York. This role is integral to ensuring the implementation of AECOM's Construction Manager's Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Management Plan and related policies during construction activities. The Safety, Health & Environmental Manager will supervise onsite EHS staff, collaborate closely with client operations teams, and support safety training and hazard analysis initiatives. Key responsibilities include reviewing EHS plans and reports submitted by contractors, facilitating safety meetings, conducting site visits, investigating incidents, and overseeing emergency preparedness and compliance reporting. This position requires a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience and a BA/BS degree or equivalent. Preferred qualifications include certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), experience in construction, and knowledge of New York City environmental regulations. Job Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years relevant experience
  • Valid US driver's license
  • Ability to supervise and manage onsite staff
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

  • Experience with incident investigation and corrective actions

Job Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent experience
  • Valid US driver's license
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety or Engineering preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of construction industry experience preferred
  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP) certification preferred
  • Personnel management experience of 2 or more years preferred
  • Incident investigation training preferred
  • Experience working with New York City Department of Environmental Protection preferred
  • Experience in tunneling or underground construction preferred

Job Duties

  • Ensure the implementation of AECOMs Construction Manager's EHS Management Plan and Environmental Health and Safety Plan
  • Supervise and actively manage onsite Construction Manager EHS staff
  • Establish a collaborative relationship with the client's Operation team to manage Safety, Health and Environmental aspects of construction activities
  • Support the Construction Manager in preparation of Job Hazard Analyses according to Client standards
  • Conduct various training sessions including new employee orientations, visitor orientations and Emergency Action Plan training
  • Review all EHS submittals by Contractors including EHASPs, JHAs, monthly reports and management plans for hazardous materials and waste
  • Facilitate weekly EHS meetings with Contractors’ EHS Representatives and project management personnel
  • Conduct frequent construction site visits to monitor compliance and performance
  • Track Contractor compliance with EHASPs and JHAs
  • Monitor performance of site EHS Representatives and review daily reports
  • Submit daily reports documenting non-compliance
  • Review Contractor incident reports, participate in incident meetings, and verify corrective actions
  • Oversee submission of monthly EHS status reports and performance trending analysis
  • Coordinate Emergency Action Plans and drills with Client staff
  • Manage all EHS Annual Reports including EPCRA, Hazardous Waste and Confined Space reports
