Job Description
Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek is one of the most romantic and iconic luxury hotels in Dallas, Texas. Known for its intimate ambiance, the hotel was once a private residence and has since been meticulously restored to combine classic elegance with contemporary comforts. The interiors boast sophisticated decor and an inviting atmosphere that draws both local guests and travelers seeking an exceptional hospitality experience. As a member of Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, the Mansion offers impeccable service, attentive associates, and a rich tradition of culinary excellence. The Mansion Restaurant, a centerpiece of the hotel, is renowned for being one of the best fine dining destinations in Dallas, offering guests an outstanding range of dining options including al fresco and in-room dining.
The role of Sommelier at Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek is a pivotal position within the Food & Beverage - Services department. This part-time role supports the Director of Wine in a variety of responsibilities critical to managing, curating, and maintaining the hotel’s extensive wine program. The Sommelier’s primary duties include selecting, buying, storing, selling, inventorying, and serving wines that complement the culinary offerings of the hotel. The position demands a deep knowledge of wines, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work seamlessly with both the front-of-house team and the kitchen. A key element of the role is the capacity to ensure wine list prices are balanced, appropriate, and plentiful, always in harmony with the à la carte menu.
Operational support is a significant part of this position, requiring the Sommelier to assist outlet leaders and be proactive in stock control, training, and guest relationship management. Daily tasks encompass greeting guests, providing knowledgeable wine recommendations, conducting wine education classes, and maintaining compliance with state liquor laws. The Sommelier must also communicate effectively with guests and team members, assist during service with tasks like bussing or food running when required, and uphold the highest standards of cleanliness and presentation.
Beyond service, this role involves strategic management of the wine inventory and beverage menu engineering to maintain coherent beverage costing in line with budgetary goals. Collaborating with culinary leadership such as the Executive Chef ensures that the wine selections closely align with the food menu. The Sommelier will also engage in wine-related projects such as tastings, vendor relationship building, stock level supervision, and ongoing beverage list curation. Training the entire Food & Beverage staff on wine knowledge and service is essential for maintaining the quality and consistency of guest experiences across the hotel.
This position is suited for individuals who possess a diploma or some college education, professional sommelier certifications like WSET or Court of Master Sommeliers are preferred, and who have the legal qualifications to serve alcoholic beverages in Texas. Candidates must be at least 21 years old, hold valid food handler certifications, and demonstrate strong communication skills in English. This role requires physical stamina, an ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and commitment to confidentiality and company policies.
Working at Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek means becoming part of a storied tradition that blends luxury accommodation with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The Sommelier contributes significantly to the guest experience by marrying exceptional wine knowledge with a passion for service excellence, all while upholding the brand’s culture, vision, and core values. Those who join this team can expect a dynamic work environment, opportunities for professional growth, and the chance to be a brand ambassador in one of Dallas’ most prestigious hospitality venues.
