The role of Rooms Inspector is pivotal within the housekeeping department. This position involves assisting in the successful operation and administration of housekeeping activities, including staff training, coaching, and counseling. The Rooms Inspector is responsible for enforcing the hotel's standard operating procedures while ensuring that the housekeeping department remains balanced and efficient. The focus is on providing exceptional customer satisfaction through high levels of cleanliness and upkeep of guest rooms and public areas. Key responsibilities include inspecting guest rooms and public spaces daily to maintain quality standards, coordinating communication between housekeepers and the Front Desk, and collaborating with Engineering and Front Office departments to optimize hotel operations.
The Rooms Inspector also prepares and distributes housekeeping boards, maintains checklists, and ensures all housekeeping tasks meet the hotel's quality benchmarks. Additionally, this role involves motivating staff and fostering a positive and productive work environment. In circumstances where the Rooms Inspector is scheduled as the Supervisor on Duty, they are expected to step up and fill the supervisory role effectively. Flexibility in working shifts is required to accommodate the demands of the hotel, including providing coverage during employee call-offs. This role demands excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills to oversee daily operations while upholding the highest standards of cleanliness and service.

Job Requirements
- College degree or appropriate experience level in hotel operations
- high school diploma or equivalent plus at least three years of related experience
- any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides necessary skills, knowledge, or abilities
- strong verbal and written communication skills
- significant attention to detail
- computer skills including use of property management system
- ability to maintain confidentiality of guest information
- fluency in English both verbal and written
- ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects up to 25 pounds without assistance
- ability to reach overhead and below knees including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping
- ability to stand or walk for extended periods
Job Qualifications
- College degree or equivalent experience in hotel operations
- at least three years of experience in housekeeping or related hospitality roles
- proficiency in property management systems
- excellent communication skills
- proven ability to lead and motivate a team
- strong organizational and supervisory skills
- knowledge of hotel policies and standards
Job Duties
- Report directly to the Housekeeping Supervisor and Rooms Manager
- inspect guest rooms and public areas daily to ensure quality standards and consistency
- work with housekeepers to ensure guest room status is communicated to Front Desk in a timely and efficient manner
- collaborate with housekeepers, Engineering and Front Office to enhance hotel operations
- prepare and distribute Housekeeping boards when necessary
- ensure all checklists are completed, filed and approved by a team leader
- motivate staff and establish a productive and positive work environment
- assist in cleaning guest rooms and public areas when necessary
- maintain knowledge of all operations department policies and service procedures
- ensure cleanliness and condition of each area meets hotel standards and conduct inspections consistently
- communicate deficiencies to respective personnel for correction
- work with engineering to ensure guest room equipment functions properly
- maintain flexible schedule and assist with staffing coverage during call-offs
- organize and oversee staff with excellent supervision and communication skills
- establish and maintain open collaborative relationships with employees and managers
- adhere to all company policies and procedures
- follow the company’s employee handbook
- perform all reasonable job duties as requested
