Job Description
This position is with Avion Hospitality, a leading hospitality management company known for operating a portfolio of hotels focused on delivering outstanding guest experiences and operational excellence. Avion Hospitality manages a variety of hotel properties across different locations, emphasizing employee development, revenue growth, and high standards of service and safety. The company is committed to maintaining a safe and efficient operation while encouraging team members to empower themselves and deliver exceptional hospitality. Avion Hospitality is recognized for its commitment to quality accommodations, attentive guest service, and strong operational standards that align with corporate goals.
The role offered is the Assistant General Manager position at one of Avion Hospitality's hotel properties. This full-time leadership role serves as an important support to the General Manager, acting as the key on-site leader in their absence to ensure smooth hotel operations. The Assistant General Manager will have a direct impact on guest satisfaction, employee development, revenue generation, and cost control. This position demands a highly experienced professional with progressive knowledge of rooms and food and beverage departments, able to lead multiple departments including Guest Services, Food & Beverage, Food Production, Engineering, Accounting, Sales, and Housekeeping.
This role requires working typically a 50-hour workweek, involving long hours and the capacity to lift or move objects weighing up to 20 pounds occasionally. Strong mental abilities are imperative, such as maintaining composure under pressure and handling workplace problems effectively. The candidate must be proficient in Windows Operating Systems and skilled in interpreting financial information and data.
The Assistant General Manager will champion Avion Hospitality’s standards and regulatory compliance including certifications in Food Handlers, Alcohol Awareness, CPR, and First Aid. With a focus on leadership development, this individual will actively participate in one-on-one sessions with department heads, ensuring that training in service standards is implemented and recruiting/hiring aligns with occupancy needs. They will also participate in revenue generation and sales efforts and communicate closely with department heads to monitor operational effectiveness.
Additionally, this role involves overseeing accounts receivable/payable, payroll, and month-end financial processes, ensuring timely corporate reporting. The Assistant General Manager will foster a positive team-oriented environment where employees feel empowered to deliver exceptional guest service. Adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and preventative maintenance programs is expected, with inspections conducted collaboratively with housekeeping and engineering.
Overall, this position is integral to maintaining operational excellence and guest satisfaction within an Avion Hospitality hotel property. It presents promotional opportunities that may require relocation, reflecting the company's dynamic career advancement philosophy. The ideal candidate will be approachable yet authoritative, able to work effectively in high-stress situations, and committed to continuous improvement for both guests and employees. This rewarding role offers growth potential for hospitality professionals seeking to elevate their management careers.
