The position of Quality Assurance Manager - Food Safety is a critical role based at the Jamaica, USA facility, operating on-site with a competitive salary range of $95,000 to $112,000. This role is centered on ensuring that all food products meet stringent standards set forth by regulatory health authorities and the company’s own policies. The incumbent is responsible for implementing, auditing, assessing, and training staff on food safety and quality management systems within the assigned Customer Service Center (CSC). This includes the development and ongoing execution of the food safety preventive controls program, encompassing policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Hazard Analysis, HACCP plans, prerequisite food safety programs, traceability and recall processes, allergen programs, and the maintenance of associated records. The Quality Assurance Manager will be a key leader in ensuring compliance with federal and local regulations, such as those issued by the FDA and USDA, while simultaneously aligning with customer specifications and corporate food safety and quality standards.
The role requires a strategic and hands-on leader who will oversee and manage the food safety program to ensure the effectiveness of FDA FSMA preventive controls and accurate record-keeping. Providing technical expertise related to food safety, HACCP, sensory and quality evaluations, the manager will conduct routine assessments and microbiological testing as defined by the food safety program. Additional accountabilities include managing pest control programs and supplier contracts, supporting CSC leadership through inspections and audits, investigating food safety issues, and maintaining effective communication and collaboration across multiple departments including Operations, Production, Sales, HR, and regional quality teams. Maintaining up-to-date manuals, documentation, and implementing new procedures is also a vital part of this role.

Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in food science, food microbiology, chemistry, biology or related fields
- Certified Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI)
- Certified in Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP)
- Five or more years of experience in food safety roles with a minimum of 2 years management experience
- Technical proficiency in food microbiology, food chemistry, food safety and food regulations
- Proven understanding of government regulations such as FDA FSMA, current good manufacturing practices (cGMP), HACCP regulations and USDA
- Proven analytical and leadership skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Collaborative leadership abilities

Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements including FDA, USDA, customer specifications and corporate food safety and quality standards, take appropriate corrective actions when needed
- Manage the food safety program ensuring FDA FSMA preventive controls are effective and records properly maintained
- Provide technical expertise related to HACCP, food safety, sensory and quality evaluations
- Conduct monthly assessments of the food safety program to ensure compliance
- Conduct routine microbiological testing as defined by the food safety program
- Review and analyze weekly food safety documents including HACCP logs
- Utilize checklists to determine consistent fulfillment of required food safety programs
- Support CSC leadership with inspection and audit readiness, coach before, during and after all external food safety, quality and sanitation inspections and audits
- Supervise pest control program and contract services and suppliers related to the food safety program
- Conduct investigations regarding food safety matters and support CSC management in providing detailed information to customers
- Perform and document periodic checks on products and services to ensure quality standards
- Interface with Operations, Production, Sales, HR, Regional Quality Team and other quality managers to ensure sustainability of the food safety program
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal stakeholders, suppliers, customers and regulatory authorities
- Monitor and prepare reports for food safety and quality management systems
- Insert monthly-required data into company web-based portals
- Collect and monitor all food safety and quality documents such as environmental monitoring, sanitation verifications, chef table, portion control, equipment handling, ramp-on time and safety performance
- Keep manuals and documentation updated and implement new procedures and rules in a timely manner
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Work effectively in a fast-paced environment while interacting with staff at all levels, maintaining positivity, proactivity and resourcefulness
