The Program Supervisor typically oversees a single program or unit, supporting between 4 to 8 individuals in residential settings or 10 to 15 individuals in periodic, vocational, or day programs.
This supervisory role involves a blend of direct support duties, program management, and administrative responsibilities. In addition to leading a team of Direct Support Professionals (DSPs), the supervisor ensures the daily operations of the program are seamless, person-centered, and compliant with regulatory standards. Key responsibilities include managing health care needs, advocacy, customer service, program planning, and the physical environment of the service location. The Program Supervisor is expected to actively contribute to staff training, recruitment, scheduling, and performance evaluations, maintaining a strong team culture rooted in safety, respect, and professionalism.
The supervisor's scope includes managing individual record accuracy, billing data, incident reporting, and overseeing compliance with licensing and company policies. They serve as a critical link between individuals, their families, case managers, and other stakeholders, ensuring communication is clear and consistent. Additionally, the role requires involvement in financial management such as purchasing supplies, managing individuals' funds, and monitoring staffing budgets.
Environmental and safety management is also part of the position; the supervisor ensures that vehicles, living spaces, and equipment are maintained according to safety standards and that any repairs are promptly addressed. Working at the program location regularly, the Program Supervisor supports direct service delivery and helps in continuous quality improvements.
Overall, the position offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of individuals served while gaining valuable leadership experience within a respected and mission-driven organization. The role demands physical capability for heavy work, a valid driver’s license with clean driving history, caregiving experience, and strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
