Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • meet state specific guidelines
  • have food service or food handler's permit
  • comply with immunizations and health training
  • physically able to perform job duties including lifting, standing, walking
  • maintain mental alertness
  • able to supervise children by sight and sound
  • demonstrate caregiving skills including diapering, dressing, feeding children
  • pass employment physicals
  • adhere to state and federal health safety regulations

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • relevant experience in licensed childcare, commercial kitchen or public school cafeteria
  • meet state specific guidelines for the role
  • food service or food handler's permit or license
  • knowledge of state nutritional requirements
  • strong judgment in child safety and risk identification
  • good communication and conflict-resolution skills
  • able to stand, walk, and lift up to 40 pounds
  • patient, professional, and flexible attitude
  • willingness to work outdoors in varying temperatures
  • positive customer service skills

Job Duties

  • Prepare nutritionally balanced meals following approved menus
  • order food and manage inventory within budget
  • maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen and equipment
  • keep accurate meal and snack count records
  • follow state and local safety and hygiene regulations
  • handle food shopping as needed
  • assist in classrooms with children as required
