Job Description
Crown Bakeries is a well-established leader in the food manufacturing industry, specializing in producing high-quality bakery products for a broad market. With a legacy of excellence and a commitment to innovation, Crown Bakeries has grown into a multi-site manufacturing organization that prioritizes safety, quality, and operational efficiency. The company fosters a workplace culture centered on continuous improvement, employee well-being, and environmental responsibility. Crown Bakeries values collaboration and teamwork among its teams located across various facilities, ensuring consistent adherence to the highest safety and regulatory standards. The company is dedicated to maintaining a safe, compliant, and productive work environment where all employees can perform their duties securely and effectively.
The Safety Manager at Crown Bakeries plays a vital role in safeguarding the health and safety of all employees across the company's facilities. Reporting to the Director of Operations and partnering closely with plant leadership, human resources, and corporate environmental health and safety teams, the Safety Manager is entrusted with developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive safety programs that align with OSHA, federal, state, and local regulations. This position is responsible for fostering a proactive, zero-incident safety culture by delivering effective training, conducting rigorous safety audits, leading incident investigations, and driving continuous safety improvements. The Safety Manager also oversees detailed OSHA recordkeeping and regulatory reporting requirements, ensuring that Crown Bakeries remains compliant with evolving safety laws and industry standards.
This role requires a blend of technical knowledge, leadership acumen, and excellent communication skills to influence safety practices at every level of the organization—from front-line employees to senior management. The Safety Manager is a key contributor to enterprise-wide safety initiatives and collaborates across departments such as quality assurance, maintenance, and workers' compensation management. By monitoring key safety performance indicators like Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) and Days Away, Restricted or Transferred (DART) rates, the Safety Manager provides data-driven insights and recommendations aimed at enhancing workplace safety across multiple manufacturing sites. The position demands someone who is a self-starter, highly organized, capable of managing multiple priorities simultaneously, and able to work flexible hours to support all shifts.
Overall, the Safety Manager is critical to Crown Bakeries' mission of protecting employees while maintaining operational excellence. The role offers an opportunity to make a tangible impact on employee well-being and help sustain Crown Bakeries’ reputation as a safe and responsible manufacturer in the food industry. This full-time position requires a combination of experience, certifications, and interpersonal skills, offering a rewarding career path within a respected and growing company dedicated to safety and quality.
