Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • minimum of five years executive pastry chef experience in a luxury hotel, resort, or restaurant
  • post-secondary education in Culinary Arts from an accredited institution
  • must communicate effectively in English both written and oral
  • knowledge of restaurant financials such as sales, costs, and labor
  • strong leadership and team management skills
  • understanding of current health department regulations
  • physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • valid driver’s license with at least one year of clean driving history may be required

Job Duties

  • Oversee the day-to-day culinary operations of the pastry kitchen
  • lead and develop all kitchen staff to ensure the highest quality food and service
  • maintain acceptable food cost and labor cost
  • plan, prep, set up and prepare quality products in all areas of the pastry and bake shop including breakfast pastries, breads, doughs, ice cream, sorbets, creams, syrups, jams, display centerpieces, cakes, amenities, truffles, garnishes, cookies, petit fours, coffee cookies, dessert specials, and pralines
  • maintain organization, cleanliness, and sanitation of work areas and equipment
  • lead and teach a team of sous chefs and cooks
  • understand restaurant financials including sales, costs, and labor
  • collaborate with team to promote a positive work culture based on respect
  • uphold all standards of quality, flavor, and concept of the pastry shop
  • meet financial targets with all kitchen-related costs and expenses
  • ensure compliance with all current health department regulations
