Job Description
Golden Waffles, operating under the New Carbon Company banner and headquartered in Glen Mills, Pennsylvania, is globally recognized as the largest supplier of waffle irons and waffle mix to the hospitality and foodservice industry. With a rich heritage spanning over 85 years, Golden Waffles has established a trusted reputation by serving more than 40,000 customer locations across North America and roughly 45 countries worldwide. The company's comprehensive program includes not only waffle mixes but also toppings, flavorings, waffle iron equipment, and related maintenance services, delivering a turnkey solution designed to ensure consistency and quality for its clients. Their product offerings span diverse markets, including leading restaurants, hotels, colleges, corporate environments, and theme parks, providing high-quality waffles that enhance customer satisfaction and profit margins.
Golden Waffles operates with a wide-reaching network, employing around 270 associates, including a geographically dispersed route delivery team of approximately 115 members. The company has over 80 distribution centers across the United States complemented by a manufacturing and refurbishment center located in South Bend, Indiana. This strategic infrastructure guarantees efficient and timely distribution services coast to coast.
The Over-the-Road (OTR) Driver, Class A, role at Golden Waffles involves extended freight transportation responsibilities across long-haul routes, entailing long periods away from home with trips lasting between ten to fourteen consecutive days followed by scheduled off-time. This position requires not only expertise in safely operating Class A commercial vehicles but also active participation in the loading and unloading processes, ensuring the careful handling of products to maintain their integrity. OTR Drivers are essential in maintaining the supply chain's efficiency by guaranteeing timely deliveries while following strict safety protocols and regulatory compliance, including adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) standards.
The role provides a competitive salary and substantial benefits, including health insurance options covering medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance. In addition, drivers receive a 401(k) retirement plan complete with company matching contributions. The company supports drivers extensively through daily per diem allowances for each overnight travel day, lodging provisions with up to one hotel stay per week for eligible drivers, reimbursement for approved travel expenses, and access to late-model trucks. This robust benefits package reflects Golden Waffles' commitment to ensuring its drivers are well-cared for and supported in their critical roles.
This role demands a high level of responsibility and dedication, requiring excellent time management, problem-solving capabilities, and customer service acumen. Given the nature of the job with extensive regional travel and exposure to varying weather conditions, the company prioritizes safety carefully, mandating proper use of personal protective equipment and securement of loads. The OTR Driver will also liaise regularly with dispatchers, warehouse personnel, and customers to maintain clear communication lines and deliver positive and professional representation of Golden Waffles at all times. This opportunity suits self-motivated individuals who can work independently and rise to the challenges and rewards of long-haul driving while playing a pivotal role in continuing Golden Waffles' legacy of culinary and operational excellence.
