Job Description

La Cabra is an internationally recognized coffee and bakery brand originating from Aarhus, Denmark. Rooted in a deep passion for exceptional coffee, sourdough, viennoiserie, craftsmanship, and warm hospitality, La Cabra has grown to be a respected name across the globe. Despite this expansion, the company remains committed to its founding values of quality, transparency, and seasonality to deliver unparalleled coffee and bakery experiences. With multiple retail locations, including three in New York City, and eight abroad, La Cabra continues to expand its international presence while maintaining a local, community-focused approach.

Joining La Cabra as a Baker in New York means becoming part of a dynamic team dedicated to creating memorable experiences for every guest through carefully crafted baked goods. This role goes beyond traditional baking duties; it centers on delivering quality and care in every product made, whether for in-house cafes or wholesale clients. Bakers at La Cabra work in an open, guest-facing bakery, providing transparency and an opportunity to engage with customers passionate about the craft.

The baker’s responsibilities include working with a variety of breads, croissants, and pastries, following complex recipes with precision and consistency. Bakers utilize professional equipment such as convection and deck ovens, stand mixers, proofers, sheeters, and electric scales to produce high-quality products daily. Maintaining a clean and organized work environment and ensuring all equipment functions at peak performance are essential parts of this position, aligning with New York City Department of Health standards.

Ideal candidates possess prior experience working with sourdough and laminated doughs, a pastry arts certificate or degree, and a strong attention to detail. The role demands physical stamina, requiring individuals who can remain on their feet for extended periods and manage physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds. Bakers also need excellent organizational skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to thrive in a high-volume, fast-paced setting.

La Cabra values team members who are curious, service-driven, and eager to grow professionally. Employees benefit from a supportive environment with opportunities for education, career development, and working alongside some of the most respected professionals in the coffee and bakery industries. The position offers competitive compensation starting at $20-25 per hour, paid vacation and sick leave, and the chance to work in one of New York's vibrant cafe spaces surrounded by like-minded colleagues.

Choosing to work at La Cabra means joining a company that believes coffee and baking are crafts that foster connection and community. Every team member contributes to the company’s mission of delivering exceptional quality and hospitality in every cup and every bite. The organization encourages continuous learning and welcomes passionate bakers from diverse backgrounds who aspire to be part of a global yet friendly workplace that champions craftsmanship and innovation. Bakers at La Cabra become integral to a growing brand that prioritizes quality, sustainability, and community engagement, making this position an exciting opportunity for career growth and personal fulfillment.
