Job Description
Willdan Lighting and Electric (WLE), a subsidiary of Willdan, is a leading company specializing in energy efficiency and lighting solutions. Based in New York City, WLE supports the NYC Accelerator program which aims to promote the adoption of energy-efficient building upgrades as part of the city’s commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The NYC Accelerator is a pioneering initiative targeting compliance with Local Law 97, the most ambitious building decarbonization law in the United States. This law sets rigorous greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets for buildings in New York City, driving innovation and sustainability in the building sector. WLE plays a crucial role in supporting this transformative effort by offering expert services and outreach programs that foster energy-efficient practices across the city’s buildings.
The Events Manager position at WLE is a hybrid role based in the New York, NY office, focused on elevating the outreach and engagement of the NYC Accelerator program through strategic event planning and execution. As an Events Manager, you will be responsible for leading all aspects of event strategy, logistics, and execution for both NYC Accelerator-hosted events and external industry gatherings. This position is pivotal in ensuring that every event aligns with broader campaign goals and supports meaningful partner coordination and stakeholder engagement. You will collaborate closely with outreach teams, program partners, and external stakeholders to maximize event impact and contribute to the program’s success in driving energy efficiency adoption.
This role requires a highly organized and proactive professional skilled in managing complex events with multiple stakeholders. You will develop and maintain an annual event calendar, identify key event opportunities, recommend participation strategies, and oversee timelines and internal planning processes. The ability to coordinate with various teams and external vendors is essential as you manage venue logistics, registration processes, staffing, materials, run-of-show development, and day-of-event operations. Your focus will be to ensure each event is professionally executed and consistently reflects the NYC Accelerator’s branding and messaging standards.
Additionally, the Events Manager will lead event-based outreach efforts designed to generate leads, raise program awareness, engage stakeholders, and support service provider recruitment and retention. You will collaborate with outreach specialists on communications and promotions, track attendee engagement, and oversee follow-up activities to ensure the long-term effectiveness of each event. A notable responsibility includes managing the annual Service Provider Expo, coordinating across multiple internal and external groups to deliver a successful event.
Supporting the Carbon Challenge program is another key aspect of the role, where you will assist with recruitment and retention strategies and ensure event logistics and communications align with overall outreach initiatives. Maintaining centralized event tracking systems, analyzing data on event participation, engagement outcomes, and follow-up status, and generating insightful reports will be crucial for ongoing program improvements.
This position offers an opportunity to make a significant impact on New York City’s ambitious sustainability goals while working in a dynamic and collaborative environment. WLE values diversity and inclusion and is an equal opportunity employer compliant with ADA, providing reasonable accommodations as needed. Join Willdan Lighting and Electric as the Events Manager and contribute to the future of energy efficiency and environmental responsibility in one of the nation’s most vibrant cities.
