The Director of Endoscopy Services at BILH assumes a critical leadership role responsible for the strategic, operational, clinical, financial, and regulatory aspects of the Endoscopy Department. This position oversees the entire department, including registered nurses, endoscopy technicians, administrative support staff, and day-to-day operations, ensuring high-quality, safe, and patient-centered care. The Director drives business development initiatives, growth strategies, and physician relationship management to enhance service delivery and department performance. This role also includes workforce engagement, quality outcome monitoring, regulatory compliance, and achievement of departmental goals.

Reporting to the Senior Director or AVP of Perioperative and Procedural Services, the Director fosters a culture of safety, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. Responsibilities include developing and executing strategic plans aligned with organizational objectives, overseeing compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards, managing budgets, and participating in organizational leadership initiatives. The position requires providing direct leadership and mentorship, promoting staff professional development, and driving performance improvement and accreditation readiness. Compensation for this position ranges from $155,000 to $211,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications. Additionally, BILH mandates influenza vaccination as a condition of employment to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive leadership experience in procedural services, perioperative services, gastroenterology, endoscopy, or related healthcare settings
  • Current Massachusetts RN license
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills
  • Knowledge of regulatory and accreditation standards
  • Expertise in performance improvement methodologies
  • Proven business development and strategic planning experience
  • Strong financial and operational management skills

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

  • Master's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field preferred
  • Previous Director-level leadership experience preferred
  • Experience with outpatient and inpatient endoscopy operations preferred
  • Certification in Gastroenterology Nursing (CGRN) or leadership certification preferred
  • Strong leadership, communication, team-building, and change management skills
  • Knowledge of regulatory and accreditation standards
  • Expertise in performance improvement methodologies
  • Proven business development and strategic planning experience
  • Strong financial and operational management skills

Job Duties

  • Provide strategic, operational, and clinical leadership for Endoscopy Services
  • Develop and execute departmental strategic plans aligned with organizational goals
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the Endoscopy Department
  • Ensure delivery of high-quality, safe, efficient, and patient-centered care
  • Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, engagement, and continuous improvement
  • Lead recruitment, retention, succession planning, and workforce development initiatives
  • Provide direct leadership and mentorship to clinical and operational staff
  • Establish performance expectations and conduct evaluations for leadership and staff
  • Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, state, federal, and organizational standards
  • Drive patient experience initiatives and service excellence outcomes
  • Oversee department budgeting, capital planning, productivity management, and resource allocation
  • Monitor and improve quality, safety, throughput, and operational metrics
  • Lead business development efforts to expand endoscopy services and increase procedural volumes
  • Develop relationships with gastroenterologists, surgeons, primary care providers, and referral sources
  • Identify growth opportunities and support implementation of new services and technologies
  • Collaborate with physician leaders to achieve strategic and operational goals
  • Oversee implementation of evidence-based clinical practices
  • Review quality indicators and develop corrective action plans when necessary
  • Lead departmental performance improvement and accreditation readiness activities
  • Participate in organizational leadership initiatives and committees
  • Promote staff engagement, professional development, and leadership growth
