The Carlyle is currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Night Manager to join its Front Office team. This full-time, permanent position offers a competitive salary in the range of $80,000 to $85,000. The role of Night Manager is a critical leadership position, serving as the property Manager on Duty during overnight shifts. The successful candidate will oversee all property operations during these hours to maintain the highest standards of hospitality and guest service. Responsibilities include managing the front desk and night audit operations, ensuring all team members are aligned with business objectives, and effectively resolving guest or property-related issues. The Night Manager will also play a key role in supporting the professional development of staff by fostering a cooperative work environment that boosts morale and productivity. As the overnight representative of management, this role demands a consummate professional who can uphold the hotel’s culture, vision, mission, and core values while maintaining exemplary standards of grooming, attitude, and behavior. The manager will interact courteously and professionally with guests, associates, and community members, addressing challenges with tact and concern. Job Requirements

  • Must be able to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy
  • be a clear thinker, remain calm and resolve problems using good judgement
  • knowledge of overall hotel operations, general business systems, and relevant hotel programs such as OPERA, ADP, Birchstreet, MS Shift, HotSOS
  • good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • strong command of spoken and written English with fluency in other languages preferred
  • excellent interpersonal relationship skills with positive attitude and ability to work cohesively as part of a team
  • maintain confidentiality of guest information and hotel data
  • prior exposure to front office operations or night manager duties
  • must be able to exert physical effort in transporting up to 25 pounds and endure various physical movements throughout work areas, including reaching, standing, and communicating effectively with guests and co-workers

Job Qualifications

  • Degree in Hotel Management or Business Administration or equivalent
  • minimum 2 years previous experience in a similar capacity in a luxury or ultra-luxury hotel
  • experience preferably in a union environment

Job Duties

  • Ensures regular on-going communication with employees to create awareness of business objectives and communicate expectations
  • attends required hotel meetings and conducts departmental pre-shift and monthly associate meetings
  • manages front desk and night audit day-to-day operations ensuring quality, standards, and meeting customer expectations
  • works with leadership team to identify and implement action plans to prevent reoccurrence of guest issues
  • constantly monitors staff performance in all service and job functions and rectifies deficiencies with personnel
  • supports hotel philosophy on hiring, employee relations, disciplinary action, training, counselling, and evaluating
  • models company culture, vision, mission and core values at all times
  • fosters and promotes a cooperative working climate maximizing productivity and employee morale
  • maintains complete knowledge of and complies with departmental policies, service procedures and standards
  • ensures superior grooming and attire standards of staff daily
  • interacts and responds courteously and professionally with guests, associates and community members resolving all guest and associate challenges
