This role is based at The Plaza, a historic landmark hotel in midtown New York managed by Fairmont, known for its luxury and timeless elegance since 1907. The Plaza is a prestigious hotel featuring 282 luxury rooms, The Champagne Bar, and the famous Palm Court renowned for afternoon tea experiences. The hotel prides itself on delivering five-diamond service standards combining sophisticated, high-quality hospitality with a deeply local and unique guest experience.
The Night Hotel Manager reports directly to the Hotel Manager and is responsible for overseeing the seamless nightly operations of the hotel. Acting as the manager on duty during night hours, this role represents hotel leadership in the absence of the Hotel Manager. The position requires proactive management of all operational departments such as Front Office, Royal Service, Housekeeping, In-Room Dining, Culinary, Stewarding, Engineering, and Security throughout the night. The Night Hotel Manager ensures high standards of service, operational efficiency, and guest satisfaction are upheld to the renowned Fairmont and Accor standards.
Key responsibilities include managing the night audit process, enforcing internal controls, handling guest inquiries and complaints, and maintaining hotel security. The role demands oversight of cleaning and maintenance schedules, coordination of third-party contractors, and management of special projects in collaboration with department directors. The Night Hotel Manager also plays a vital role in recruitment, training, scheduling, and performance management of night audit staff and other operational personnel. Job Requirements
- Minimum four years management experience in front office and/or housekeeping
- Proven expert skills in Opera PMS
- Proficient in Microsoft Windows applications
- Degree or diploma in related discipline preferred
- Must maintain professional appearance
- Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
- Highly responsible and reliable
- Ability to work effectively under pressure
- Team oriented with strong collaboration skills
- Outstanding guest service focus and courteous communications.
Job Qualifications
- At least four years of management experience in Front Office and/or Housekeeping
- Expertise in Property Management Systems with advanced Opera skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows applications
- University or college degree in a related field is an asset
- Professional presentation and appearance
- Strong interpersonal and problem solving skills
- Demonstrated high responsibility and reliability
- Ability to work calmly under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Capacity to function collaboratively as part of a team

Job Duties
- Provide management cover and operational assistance during the night in the absence of Department Managers
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming according to Fairmont Hotels and Resorts policies
- Oversee hotel operations for all operational departments during the overnight shift
- Manage overnight cleaning and maintenance programs, including third-party contractors and special projects
- Perform Night Manager duties and carry out Night Audit functions as required
- Ensure all internal controls are performed according to company standards
- Handle guest concerns, resolve problems and manage guest relations during the night
- Be fully conversant with and take control during emergencies including fire, bomb, health and safety situations
- Implement daily sales strategies to achieve optimal rates
- Ensure hotel security through regular patrols and checks
- Act as primary guest contact during their stay
- Recruit, train and develop Night Audit team members
- Manage staff schedules, wages, contracts and performance appraisals
- Deliver service standards aligned with standard operating procedures
- Achieve guest satisfaction through service delivery
- Keep all department colleagues updated and motivated
- Ensure courteous treatment of guests and resolve complaints
- Prepare customer billing accurately
- Utilize all front office systems proficiently
- Log absenteeism and lateness effectively
- Complete special projects as assigned by management
- Perform additional duties as required.
