Job Description

Conviva Senior Primary Care, operating as part of Humana Inc., is a specialized healthcare provider focusing on delivering comprehensive and individualized care to senior patients. Located at 5317 S Padre Island, Corpus Christi, TX, Conviva aims to support seniors through proactive and preventive medical services that encompass wellness visits, physical exams, chronic condition management, screenings, and treatment of minor injuries. As a valued part of Humana’s Primary Care Organization that includes CenterWell Senior Primary Care, Conviva emphasizes a value-based approach designed to ensure patients receive the right care at the right time while minimizing costs. This model not only prioritizes physical health but also attends to the social, emotional, behavioral, and financial needs of its elderly patients, promoting their overall well-being.

CenterWell, a Humana business, enhances these efforts by providing integrated healthcare experiences that focus on patient-centered care. It stands as a leader in senior-focused primary care, home healthcare services, and integrated home delivery and specialty pharmacy services. Together, these organizations foster a holistic approach to healthcare, making them prominent providers in the senior care market.

The role of Medical Assistant at Conviva Senior Primary Care is a dynamic clinical and administrative position essential to the smooth operation of their clinical environment. This full-time (40 hours per week) position involves serving as the initial point of contact for patient care, carrying out a blend of patient-facing and support duties.

Medical Assistants at this location report directly to the Center Administrator and are tasked with performing a variety of clinical activities such as pre-visit planning customized to patient visit types, obtaining and recording detailed medical histories and vital signs, and facilitating seamless patient rooming processes. They assist healthcare providers with medical procedures and treatments, conduct specimen collections and point-of-care tests, and are involved in the preparation and administration of medications under the guidance of healthcare practitioners.

An important component of this role is the accurate documentation within electronic health record (EHR) and electronic medical record (EMR) systems, including the maintenance of quality metrics such as HEDIS and Stars measures. This helps ensure compliance with quality care standards and supports value-based care efforts.

This position requires a certified medical assistant (CMA or RMA) credential from recognized organizations and at least one year of medical assistant experience, including phlebotomy and medication/vaccine administration. A high school diploma or equivalent is essential, along with CPR certification. The role also involves participation in the Tuberculosis (TB) screening program, highlighting the clinical and patient safety focus of the job.

Fluency in English and Spanish, experience in a Primary Care Organization (PCO) setting, and knowledge of value-based care initiatives, including HEDIS, CPT/ICD coding, and patient experience measures, are considered valuable additional qualifications.

The pay range for this position is from $43,000 to $56,200 annually, with eligibility for a bonus incentive plan based on individual and company performance. Conviva offers a comprehensive benefits package supporting whole-person well-being, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) retirement plan, paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, disability insurance, and life insurance. The hiring process includes the use of HireVue technology for efficient interviews, underscoring Conviva’s commitment to modern and accessible recruitment practices.

Humana promotes an inclusive workplace and is an equal opportunity employer, firmly committed to diversity and compliance with relevant employment laws and affirmative action policies. This Medical Assistant role offers candidates the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of seniors by delivering compassionate and quality healthcare within a supportive and innovative organizational environment.
