The Lead Cook role at Sodexo in New York is a full-time position with a pay range of $25 to $30 per hour, offering varying shifts that require open availability. As a Lead Cook, you will be a key player within the culinary team, responsible for preparing and creating nutritious, high-quality meals with attention to food safety and customer satisfaction. This role requires not only culinary skills but also leadership abilities to support daily kitchen operations and ensure compliance with health and safety standards. You will actively contribute to reducing food waste and promoting sustainability while engaging warmly with customers. The position involves preparing food for multiple meal periods, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special events, sometimes managing grill stations or a la carte services. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3 to 4 years of related work experience preferred
  • Open availability to work varying shifts including weekends and holidays
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks in the kitchen
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to maintaining food safety and sanitation standards
  • Reliable punctuality and attendance

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • 3 to 4 years of related work experience preferred
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Ability to follow recipes and food safety guidelines
  • Experience working in a fast-paced kitchen environment

Job Duties

  • Accurately and efficiently prepare, portion, cook, and present a variety of hot and/or cold food items for various meal periods including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special/catered events
  • Read and follow basic recipes and/or product directions for preparing various food items
  • Prepare food and serve customers at an a la carte and/or operate a grill station
  • Support management in the daily oversight of key functions and employees during normal business operations
  • Attend work and show for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity
  • Maintain a healthy and safe working environment
  • Perform other duties as assigned based on account needs and client requirements
