Job Requirements
- Legal to work in the US
- Already local to the Bay Area - not looking to relocate anyone
- Travel with the family as needed including cooking at rental homes 4-6 weeks per year
- Must maintain a clean, organized, and professional demeanor in the kitchen
- Prior experience cooking for a family and children
- Valid and unrestricted California driver's license
- Completion of a satisfactory background check
- Up-to-date vaccinations including COVID-19 with proof before the hire date
- Ability to collaborate effectively and communicate respectfully with all team members with the goal of co-creating a calm and peaceful environment for the family and staff
Job Qualifications
- Prior experience cooking for a family and children
- Ability to plan menus that meet specific dietary needs
- Skilled in sourcing high-quality, organic, and sustainable ingredients
- Experience leading or overseeing additional culinary staff
- Knowledge of safe seafood consumption practices including mercury monitoring
- Strong organizational skills to maintain a clean and efficient kitchen
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with family and staff
- Valid and unrestricted California driver's license
- Up-to-date vaccinations including COVID-19
- Professional and calm demeanor in a kitchen environment
Job Duties
- Prepare meals in the Chef's kitchen located in a neighboring home and transport them to the primary residence for service
- Serve daily meals including lunch plated service for two adults, dinner with mixed plated and family-style service for two adults and two children, and breakfast preparation for caregiving staff
- Plan thoughtful menus that meet specific dietary requirements focusing on protein, fiber, and low saturated fat
- Develop menus for family gatherings and special events
- Monitor weekly mercury content in seafood to ensure healthy consumption
- Lead event catering or oversee additional chefs for larger gatherings
- Maintain a clean, organized, and functional Chef's kitchen
- Manage grocery inventory and pantry stock ensuring the kitchen is well-supplied
- Prioritize using non-toxic tools
- Source high-quality ingredients including humanely raised and organic meats, sustainable seafood, and seasonal organic produce
- Source and train additional chefs to cover time off or assist with events
- Collaborate with Operations team to report and address kitchen equipment issues
- Travel with the family as needed including 4-6 weeks per year within California for cooking at rental homes or family properties
- Prepare treats for children's school events as requested
- Pack to-go lunches for family members when needed
