The role of Housekeeping Utility Worker at Highland Springs presents a rewarding opportunity for individuals who are detail-oriented and passionate about maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. This position involves the upkeep of both hard floor and carpeted surfaces using specialized machinery and techniques such as scrubbing, mopping, stripping, waxing, vacuuming, and spot treatment to ensure pristine conditions throughout the community. The worker will be responsible for cleaning vertical surfaces including doors, windows, and walls, as well as managing waste disposal by following appropriate procedures using compactors, trucks, and carts. The job requires moving and arranging furniture in common areas, offices, and residential apartments, along with assisting residents by delivering items to and from various locations within the community. This role emphasizes safety with the operation of housekeeping equipment and vehicles and may require additional certifications, including a CDL Class B license with air brake endorsement and maintaining a valid D.O.T. Physical/Medical Examiner’s Certificate. Employees in this role work on campus, offering convenience along with competitive compensation ranging from $15.00 to $18.00 per hour, commensurate with experience. Job Requirements

  • Current and valid driver’s license
  • ability to safely operate carpet care equipment, hard floor care equipment, trash removal equipment, and any other equipment necessary for the cleanliness of the community
  • previous experience in carpet care and floor finishing techniques preferred
  • may require a CDL Class B with air brake endorsement
  • must have a current and valid D.O.T. Physical/Medical Examiner’s Certificate
  • adherence to specific state regulations and requirements as applicable

Job Duties

  • Maintain hard floor surfaces including scrubbing, mopping, burnishing, stripping, buffing, and waxing
  • maintain carpeted surfaces including extracting, interim cleaning, spotting, drying, and vacuuming
  • clean vertical surfaces such as doors, walls, or windows
  • remove trash including refuse and recycling by following procedures utilizing compactors, trucks, and carts
  • move and arrange furniture in community common spaces, offices, and residential apartments
  • deliver residents items to and from storage, vehicles, apartments, or other areas
  • operate housekeeping equipment and vehicles in a safe manner
