Job Description

The Environmental Services Technician role at HonorHealth Shea Medical Center is a full-time day shift position, working 32 hours per week from 7 am to 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday. This role is essential in maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation standards within the hospital, ensuring a safe and hygienic environment for patients, visitors, and staff. The technician will engage in a wide variety of heavy cleaning tasks, including patient rooms, offices, hallways, and other designated areas. Duties also involve operating floor care equipment, performing floor refinishing functions, and managing waste disposal. The position requires adherence to established cleaning protocols and safety standards to achieve facility objectives and quality standards reliably. This role demands attention to detail, responsibility for preventative maintenance of cleaning equipment, and familiarity with various cleaning products and tools. Environmental Services Technicians also play a role in patient safety rounds by monitoring patients and alerting nursing personnel if signs of distress are noticed. Job Requirements

  • Less than high school education required
  • Driver license required
  • Must be at least 21 years old if driving HonorHealth vehicles
  • Maintain a clean driving record as defined by HonorHealth Network Driver Qualification Policy
  • Successfully complete HonorHealth Defensive Driving Course if driving vehicles
  • Able to perform heavy cleaning tasks and operate cleaning equipment
  • Adhere to safety protocols and wear personal protective equipment
  • Ability to work the 7 am to 3:30 pm day shift
  • Available to work 32 hours per week full-time

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Experience of 12 to 24 months preferred
  • Valid driver license required
  • Ability to successfully complete defensive driving course if required
  • Knowledge of cleaning protocols and safety procedures
  • Ability to operate floor care equipment and perform preventative maintenance
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to monitor patient safety
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with nursing personnel

Job Duties

  • Place linen on distribution carts
  • Fold and stage scrub sets for stocking in Scrub Ex machines
  • Clean and organize linen room
  • Fill requisitions for housekeeping supplies
  • Deliver and replenish nursing unit supply closets
  • Stage Housekeeper carts with supplies, chemicals and mops
  • Dust mop floors and corridors as assigned
  • Inspect cleaning equipment and perform scheduled preventative maintenance
  • Participate in patient safety rounding
  • Monitor patient for signs of distress
  • Alert nursing personnel when intervention or clinical monitoring is required
  • Maintain hard surface floors by following the correct processes for daily and periodical floor care
  • Follow correct stripping and refinishing procedures and daily hard surface floor care
  • Maintain soft surface floors by following correct daily and periodical carpet care processes
  • Clean assigned patient/non-patient areas and equipment according to established cleaning procedures
  • Clean, sanitize, and make beds on transfers/discharges promptly
  • Transport regular waste, medical waste, and linen to appropriate collection sites
  • Ensure soiled utility rooms and waste carts are kept clean at all times
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) while performing cleaning responsibilities or transporting waste
