Job Description
Life Hotel New York is an exquisite 98-key boutique hotel located in the heart of Manhattan, New York. The hotel caters to travelers who seek an authentic experience, blending personality and genuine human connection within a vibrant, intimate setting. At Life Hotel, guests don't just stay—they experience the city's pulse through uniquely crafted services and a welcoming atmosphere. The hotel features prominent on-property dining establishments including ZOI Restaurant and TEN11 Lounge, which add to the lively yet refined cultural ambiance that defines the property as distinctly New York. Managed by Rebel Hotel Company, one of the fastest-growing hotel management companies in the United States, Life Hotel New York is part of a nationally recognized portfolio known for developing people-first leaders and fostering career growth in the hospitality industry.
The role of Operations Manager at Life Hotel New York is a pivotal position, reporting directly to the Director of Operations. This full-time, exempt role is designed for hospitality professionals who thrive in boutique hotel environments, enjoy being on the floor, and take pride in creating seamless, guest-focused daily operations. The Operations Manager will lead the Rooms Division, overseeing the Front Desk, Housekeeping, and Engineering departments. The role requires a highly visible leader who supports department heads, ensures adherence to service standards, and cultivates an empowering environment where employees are motivated to deliver exceptional guest experiences. This position naturally involves stepping in as the senior operational leader during the Director’s absence and playing an active role during peak operational times, including Manager-on-Duty duties.
The Operations Manager will work hand-in-hand with the Director of Operations to maintain operational excellence, drive guest satisfaction, and promote team engagement within a fast-paced, luxury lifestyle hotel environment. Responsibilities also include staffing support, scheduling, conducting inspections, overseeing preventative maintenance and deep-cleaning initiatives, and collaborating on daily operational pacing with Front Desk leadership. The role demands a dynamic individual who treats operations as a living experience shaped by people, decisions, and interactions rather than a mundane checklist.
Applicants should be seasoned hospitality professionals with supervisory experience and a deep understanding of rooms operations specific to lifestyle or luxury hotels. The ideal candidate will be adept at decision-making, problem-solving in real-time, balancing guest satisfaction with operational discipline, and managing financial data and reports confidently. Effective communication, active listening skills, and proficiency in Windows-based systems are essential to successfully navigate the complexities of hotel operations and foster a collaborative work environment.
The role requires weekend availability and values certification such as Food Service Director (FSD), though this is preferred rather than mandatory. Educational qualifications include either one year of progressive Rooms Department experience in a lifestyle or luxury hotel, a four-year college degree plus one year of hotel rooms experience, or a two-year college degree plus two years of relevant experience. Rebel Hotel Company offers a competitive salary range of $73,000 to $75,000 annually, alongside a comprehensive benefits package including 401(k) with company matching, medical, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, and paid time off. Perhaps most attractive is the opportunity for career advancement within an expanding company dedicated to leadership development and people-centric growth paths.
Joining Life Hotel New York means becoming part of a company that values great operations as a product of great people. If you are driven by the unique challenges and opportunities of boutique hotels, passionate about service excellence, and eager to build a meaningful career path in hospitality, this position invites you to apply and grow with a leader in the industry.
